Authority always wins… I’m the nail!

“Wherever there is a man who exercises authority, there is a man who resists authority.”
― Oscar Wilde

“The nail that sticks out farthest gets hammered the hardest.”

“Authority, when first detecting chaos at its heels, will entertain the vilest schemes to save its orderly facade.”
― Alan Moore, V for Vendetta

Lyrics:
They like to get you in a compromising position
They like to get you there and smile in your face
They think, they’re so cute when they got you in that condition
Well I think, it’s a total disgrace

Chorus:
I fight authority, authority always wins
I fight authority, authority always wins
I been doing it, since I was a young kid
Ive come out grinnin
I fight authority, authority always wins

So I call up my preacher
I say: gimme strength for round 5
He said: you don’t need no strength, you need to grow up, son
I said: growing up leads to growing old and then to dying,
And dying to me dont sound like all that much fun

Chorus:
I fight authority, authority always wins
I fight authority, authority always wins
I been doing it, since I was a young kid
Ive come out grinnin
I fight authority, authority always wins

I fight authority, authority always wins
I fight authority, authority always wins
I been doing it, since I was a young kid
Ive come out grinnin
I fight authority, authority always wins
Oh no
Oh no
I fight authority, authority always wins

Chorus:
I fight authority, authority always wins
I fight authority, authority always wins
I been doing it, since I was a young kid
I’ve come out grinnin’
I fight authority, authority always wins
I fight authority, authority always wins
I fight authority, authority always wins
I been doing it, since I was a young kid
I’ve come out grinnin’
I fight authority, authority always wins

      • Have to disagree again. A hammer has more than one use, and it is not dependent on a nail for its existence. It can pound stuff, sure, but it can also be used to pry things free, or even secure things in place without the benefit of a nail. Whereas a nail? Is just simply that. Without a hammer it is nothing. The nail is far more codependent than the hammer. Far. 😉

      • Hmm, I could say you nailed it, but ….
An essence of the hammer is to pound, it could be your finger that gets hit, but a reason the hammer exists is to hit any object.
You can hit a nail with a rock so it’s not true that without the hammer nail is nothing. The same logic you applied is that without an object to hit what is a hammer, nothing.
Anything can be a hammer and anything can be a nail. so these two “elements ” don’t exist without each other. We, humans recognize that and use that “you nailed it” to describe the mental process. I mean you didn’t nail anything in reality, but what you said was right.
Only not in this case, 😉

      • Why is it we tend to get in deep discussions on the dumbest things? Haha. You know, I actually was copy/pasting quotes from articles I found on the internet of all the reasons you are wrong, to fully debate my philosophical stance on hammer/nails, when I stopped and had a moment of clarity. “Uh, why am I doing this again?” Apparently I need a good old fashion debate, a good ol’ argument…And just so you know, I refuse to have one about a stupid hammer and nail. Hahahaha. Gonna have to find something far more worthy of our time in the future, cause if I am needing to debate over this? Anything else will be far FAR more acceptable.

      • Maybe because we agree on the smartest things so we have to argue about the dumb things. Haha
The funny part I came to the same conclusion all on my own. About the stupid hammer and nail.
Of course, I still think I am right. I just don’t remember what we were arguing about? 😀 😉

I would like to see the articles that proves me wrong. Do you have a link?
I would like to give myself a headache. Hahaha

      • Yes, that might be it. Haha. And um, haha, no… You can look up any and links all your own. That’s the wonder of Google. 😉 I am not gonna perpetuate the silly discussion by providing the links I found. Cause then you would read the links, argue how wrong THEY are, then the stupid discussion over hammer vs nail would continue indefinitely. And honestly who wants that? Definitely not me. LOL. Definitely. Hahaha. 😀

      • No, I can’t look up for the links because I don’t know what links you found.
I am not looking to argue I am looking to see the different point of view and maybe I will learn something from it. I am just curious. Nothing to do with you anymore.
