Doesn’t this make the upcoming year look all cheery!
Science is now saying an “Alien Earth”…
Might actually exist!
[via Space] While 2011 was a huge year for alien-planet discoveries, 2012 could bring something even more exciting: the first true “alien Earth.”
This year saw the tally of confirmed exoplanets top 700, with NASA’s Kepler space telescope flagging thousands of additional candidates that still need to be verified. And just this month, Kepler scientists announced two landmark finds — the first two Earth-size alien planets, as well as a larger world in its star’s habitable zone, that just-right range of distances where liquid water (and possibly life as we know it) could exist.
These and other recent discoveries suggest that the prized quarry of many exoplanet hunters — an “alien Earth” — could be just over the horizon. In fact, such a planet may well pop up in the next round of Kepler candidates, which should be released next year, researchers said. [Read More]
Funny…
How they say this all happy and excited like.

Seriously, guys – Really?
Sure, it would be cool news, if the aliens we are about to discover we’re all, “Hey, you humans are awesome…Let’s be pals!”
But LOOK at the world, and the human species that runs it!
What chances do we have of that happening?
[via The Blaze] (The Blaze/AP) Seven people believed to be related had opened their Christmas gifts and started cleaning up the wrapping paper when they were shot to death in a suburban Fort Worth apartment,
police said Sunday.
Authorities said they believe the shooter is among the dead.
Four women and three men, aged 18 to 60, were found in an adjoining kitchen and living room area when police entered the apartment around midday, said Grapevine Police Sgt. Robert Eberling. Two handguns were found near the bodies in the apartment that was decorated for the holiday with a tree, he added.
“It appears they had just celebrated Christmas. They had opened their gifts,” Eberling said.
The Dallas Morning News reports that officiers responded to a 911 call at about 11 a.m. when they discovered the seven bodies in the middle-class neighborhood. The call had come from the apartment, but no one was on the line when the 911 operator answered.
The victims have not yet been identified, but Eberling said it appears they all died of gunshot wounds. He said authorities still don’t know what sparked the incident. [Read more]
We are, at times, a sad, miserable, depressing species.
Do you honestly think an outside, alien species, who is not aware of our awesome we think we are, would want to be “pals” with us?
No.
Not likely.
Heck, I’m human and for the most part I stay continually embarrassed by the bulk-think mentality of my species.
So?
In other words…

We are so screwed right now….
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
*no*

Boy, somebody didn’t like their Christmas gifts. Such a terrible story. To kill and to be killed on the Christmas Day. Can anything be more twisted and sad.
I saw the trailer, I think ten times and I am planing to see it couple of more time. That’s my type of the movie. Dark, mysterious, scary and epic. “laughs” I am literary counting the days to the premier and planning how to get the tickets. I have to see this movie.
Thanks for posting.
I am such a fan of the original movies, and because I am…This new movie, even if it is a prequel, makes seeing it a must. Can’t wait to watch it! So yes, totally my pleasure.
I watch the original movies every time they are on the TV. Sometimes there is a marathon of all Alien movies and it is like a Christmas time for me. I am gonna miss Sigourney Weaver but my instincts are telling me that Prometheus will be helluva movie.
Yes I will miss SW as well… Kicking alien butt just won’t be the same without her. Can’t wait for this one! It was always the atmosphere in the past movies that got to me. The first two? The atmosphere was a character all its own. I like how it was written, portrayed and experienced. Nothing for me? Is better than atmosphere! And this new movie by RS, definitely looks like it has it…
And I shall name it Bob.
The atmosphere? Always surprise me how similar likes we have.
Only I wouldn’t named it Bob.
Why not? Bob… Scary name. A carry-over scary name from my Twin Peaks phase. I kid you not, to this day? No single character/situation/atmosphere scared me more than those days when “Bob” came on the screen on Twin Peaks. Me, my sister and step-mom would have to have Dad sit in the room with us watching those episodes. Bob…yeah, scary guy!
I know your story about Bob.
You were all waiting for your dad to tell you guys that Bob was not on the screen anymore so you could continue to watch Twin Peaks.
Anyway you can call it Bob, I will call it something else. ok?
Haha…Deal indeed.
I remember Bob, he was indeed scary guy.
You just had to bring him my happy place didn’t you? *pouts* Just couldn’t resist.
I didn’t do anything. You revoked his name. I never think about this dude, never. Except when you mention him. Then I go and find his picture. Just like a cat when she brings a mouse saying lookie, lookie what I found.
Huh… Could be why I have issues with cats.
