Scratch your nose in this dress, you might accidentally call your Ma

This takes ‘smart’ clothing to a whole new level!

The garment, branded the M-Dress, lets wearers make and receive calls by slipping their sim card under the label, allowing them to keep their usual numbers.

Gesture recognition software allows users to pick up a call by raising their hand to their ear and end a conversation by letting it fall to their side.

The M-Dress, designed by the London-based fashion company CuteCircuit, will ring when an incoming call is received and different ringtones can be assigned to different numbers.

But the garment can only call a limited number of pre-programmed contacts, according to Mashable, the technology website.

The dress is described as being made of “a dark, richly textured, form-fitting silk jersey” and will be released in 2011. Its price remains undisclosed.

The antanna, described as “super-tiny”, is stitched into the bottom hem of the dress, which rests at about knee-height, to reduce the amount of radiation that the wearer is exposed to.

A message on the CuteCircuit website said: “Very often phone calls are missed because mobile phones are quite awkward to carry, especially for women, that have garments with small or no pockets. To allow women to stay connected while remaining stylish, CuteCircuit designed the M- Dress. A mobile phone in its own right but built out of soft circuitry.”

What happens though, if I need to scratch my nose?

Hmmm, I see the possibility of many accidental phone calls in the future: “What? Oh, hello.  Uh, who’s this…Mom? No, no I didn’t want anything, sorry uh…I called by accident, I was just scratching my nose, but of course I am SO happy to talk to you!”

Ugh.

Welcome to the future of technology!

  1. Well , well you are right . Scratch your nose in this dress , you might accidentally call your Ma . I am starting to resent all this opportunity not ever to have piece and time for yourself . God forbid to miss some of the calls .
On the entertaining level the dress is fun.

    • Scary isn’t it? Technology is making it so that there is NO escape anywhere…Well, that is unless you are like me and just don’t answer the phone. Drives my family NUTS, but still I need to have my walls (they’re padded *laughs*) of occasional isolation, else I will go mad. And if it comes down to me being nuts, or them…Sorry, them being nuts is much easier for me to handle…

Especially since I don’t answer my phone and have to listen to them. *shrugs* It’s my system and it works for me, what can I say?

And yes, I have to admit, I DO like the dress…You know, just minus the antenna. ;)

  2. I like/love the dress . It would look sexy on me . Sans antenna . I go nuts if I have to talk on the phone too much .
I snap after awhile . And I dont answer the phone either , even for work but dont tell anybody . :)
Me being nuts is not easy for anybody to handle . Oh, poor people . They all have that hurt look in their eyes . Seriously . So I have to have breaks . People bug me too much . I can’t have regular , normal life and I dont have one. Oh, joy. :)
