How about ‘quintillionths of a second’ fast?
Well, this ‘fast’ is fast enough to directly observe electrons moving about the outer orbit of an atom thanks to a process called attosecond absorption spectroscopy.
In an unprecedented achievement, physicists have managed to directly observe electrons moving about the outer orbit of an atom. It’s all thanks to some nifty quantum trickery and a machine that measures time in quintillionths of a second.
The actual process used by the scientists, called attosecond absorption spectroscopy, is about as fiendishly complicated as its name, so let’s take this slowly. They started by taking some atoms of krypton, one of the nobles gases. They then ionized the atoms using a near-infrared laser pulse. This pulse operated in cycles of a few femtoseconds each. A femtosecond is 10^-15 second, or a quadrillionth of a second. This ionization pulse caused anywhere from one to three of the eight electrons in the krypton’s outermost shell to leave the atom, leaving an empty space in this furthest valence.
Next, it was time for the attosecond pulse. An attosecond is a thousandth of a femtosecond, which is also 10^-18 second (not to mention a quintillionth of a second, just so all our bases are covered). They sent an extreme-ultraviolet attosecond pulse on the same path as that of the earlier, femtosecond pulse. And this is where the physicists were able to directly observe electrons at work in the wake of ionization.
The attosecond pulse excited one or more of the electrons in the next energy orbital beneath the outermost shell, causing them to jump to the outer orbital and fill the gap created by the departed electrons. At that point, the electron starts “flopping” between the two orbits, creating complementary interference patterns that essentially merge into one, thanks to the quantum concept of coherence.

The small guys are so dynamic and full of action . When you think that their action/interaction makes life and even is reasons for our big decisions we are so not in control . like you said about our brains and blindness couple of posts ago .

I see our souls much in the way physicists see (or don’t see) the energy that holds atoms together. They can’t see it, they can’t explain it but they know it must be there. It’s an energy that never dissipates, only transforms from one form to another. And once we die, still the energy remains no longer needed to hold us all together, so it lets loose its hold on our shell, holding all in us together, to go up and join that from which it came from…It’s mirrored (but on a much grander level) Universal energy that holds EVERYTHING together. That’s how I see it anyway. In terms of energy. *shrugs* As for a video. What I posted so far, is all that they have released. “nods” THAT makes every sense to me . It explains my own thoughts . While the manners of expression are different and different words are used we thing similarly if not completely the same . I truly understand this and i will think about this for a long time . Analyzing from all the angles . Very happy.

Good. I’m glad. Again God for me…It comes down to ones definition. Atheists, just as most Christians I suppose, get entrapped by mans definition of God and that’s what causes the conflicts. But man NEEDS to put A Greater power into a frame of reference they can understand. So the concept is more relateable and not as scary.
That doesn’t mean, as some believe, that a bigger Universal Absolute, God, doesn’t exist, because I firmly believe God does but for me God’s not a mere concept that can be defined by man by any Book…I don’t think its supposed to. That’s the point.
It’s beyond our true capacity of knowledge or understanding.
There is I believe a certain intelligence to what I see as the Universal Absolute Energy, God, although I do not see God as a man with a long white beard sitting in a huge golden chair up in heaven, but I see Him much like the quantum Zeno Effect on an atomic level, where particles react differently upon inspection. There is intelligence there as well, but as to an exact purpose? I can no more explain that than I, nor the smartest physicists in the world, can explain. I just have to have faith that there IS indeed a purpose. The rest I leave up to the Universe to hash out. And once again…That’s the point. It’s an ever evolving energy. Energy given for a purpose of furthering a reaction to keep the whole proverbial ball pushing ever forward to further our own existence in this, what we know as…
Life.
